The PSNI have today assured dog owners that messages on social networking site Facebook claiming that dogs are being kidnapped and used for bait in dog fighting are not true.
A Facebook post claiming that dogs were being kidnapped for dog fighting started on Facebook pages in North and West Belfast.
A police spokesperson said:
There are no incidents of dogs being kidnapped for this purpose being investigated by PSNI at this stage.
